It could be said that Pastor John, his wife, Karen, and their 4 boys are really just coming home to Christiansburg. After serving Christiansburg as a town police officer for 5 years, Pastor John left serving the town to follow a calling to serve the world. His first pastorialship was serving a Baptist congregation in North Carolina for 7 years after completing studies at Piedmont Baptist Graduate School. During that time in the Winston-Salem area, Altizer earned a Master of Divinity concentration on Biblical Studies and a Master of Sacred Theology in Biblical Studies at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. The pastor’s study will continue to be busy as Altizer is presently working on a Doctor of Philosophy in Systematic Theology at Baptist Bible Seminary in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania, while leading initiatives past, present, and future at Trinity Baptist. Although, the Altizers are from Peterstown, West Virginia, the last two years have seen John traveling the globe with Baptist Equipping Nationals (BEN). As a member of this missionary organization, John joins other teachers, pastors, and missionaries to train people in their own country to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are happy to have the Altizers “home” serving with the Trinity family in Christiansburg.
